I am a first-time mom who was not prepared to discover that my 4-month-old baby had multiple life-threatening food allergies. My world changed dramatically… as did my diet, since I was breast-feeding at the time. It took 8 long and difficult months, but I have finally accepted that my now 1-year-old has food allergies that may or may not ever go away and that I must do everything I can to protect him, leaving the rest in the Lord’s hand.
Everyone is welcome to my blog, of course, but if you are the mom of a food-allergic baby or child, I want to extend an especially warm welcome to you. My goal is to provide you with encouragement, information, resources, and most of all, recipes. I want to walk with you on this often lonely journey.
If you’re anything like me, you are experiencing or have experienced one or more of the following emotions (often simultaneously!):
My hope and prayer is that you are able to make peace with your child’s condition; accepting the allergies and learning to live with them. Maybe we can even celebrate the positive aspects of our children’s allergies together!
Most of the recipes I post here will be free of the top 8 allergens, as well as sesame (often considered top allergen #9) because my Certain Little Someone is also allergic to that. He’s allergic to beef as well, so I avoid that in all the recipes, but some may be adapted to include beef.
Please leave a comment on any post that interests you, and let me know what information or resources you would like me to include!
May God richly bless you and give you strength as you seek to protect your child!
